Unbelievable! I work a place with a sidewalk cafe. I had a couple of women waiting for a friend for almost an hour, nursing one glass of wine between them. When he finally arrived, they ordered one appetizer, and then, while I was inside at the bar getting drinks for another table, they asked one of my colleagues, a newbie, to watch their table while they walked a few blocks away to watch a movie being filmed! When I came back, the newbie clued me in, and they had left behind a suitcase, two purses, and two Blackberries on the table. The food was ready in the kitchen, and a half hour later, they returned! I so wanted to “pilfer” the blackberries to punish them, but, of course, did not. Can you believe the nerve of asking a waiter to watch your belongings OUTSIDE at sidewalk cafe while you disappear for 30 minutes? It was not busy, and between the two of us we were able to keep an eye on the stuff, but what if we both had to be called away at the same time? Idiots.
